Situation The Client, who had used MMI to conduct National TV and Spot TV media audits was interested in an assessment of their local print media (ROP & FSI) stewardship processes and performance. MMI was brought in to perform a comprehensive review of their contract, insertion order management, billing remittance and discrepancy resolution systems. Source documents reviewed ranged from publisher contracts to monthly billing statements and print orders for publications representing a significant portion of their annual media expenditures.
Outcome In addition to identifying $3 million in media discrepancies, MMI was able to introduce financial and legal contract language amendments, performance validation processes for both the agency and the newspapers and billing reconciliation improvements to speed up the collection of rebates, discounts and credits. Findings included unapplied rebates, incorrect circulation levels billed by the publications, insertion order inaccuracies, contractual terms and conditions not being adhered to and incorrect CPMs being charged.
