Advertisers pay a high price for an inherent lack of accountability. The traditional model of agency self reporting, when it comes to media performance, is outdated given today's highly regulated business environment. Progressive advertisers are relying on MMI to assist in the application of media "Best Practices" methodologies to protect their organizations and to optimize their media investment.
U.S. advertisers have been slow to follow their Global counterparts in the adoption of independent media auditing. They will, however, drive the growth of the worldwide media auditing category with their emerging acceptance of credible independent consultants. It is estimated that less than 10.0% of all US media dollars are audited versus 15% to 70% of media billings in European, Latin American and Pacific Rim countries.
It is the responsibility of media audit firms to improve the quality of their own product. This includes the development and refinement of audit methodologies, processes, systems and reports to maximize accuracy and efficiencies, as well as to minimize the time required by advertisers and their agencies to comply.
